Design and documentation of landscape elements for high profile tourism and education destination incorporating interpretive elements, viewing platforms, precast custom furniture, land modelling, stone walls and softworks planting.
This project originates from a master planning process commencing in 2000, prompted by the construction of a spillway adjacent to the dam. At that time, Mark Harper was the Project Landscape Architect at Spackman & Mossop (now Spackman Mossop Michaels) responsible for the day-to-day management of the project in association with joint venture partners Lahz Nimmo Architects.
The master plan was partially constructed by 2001, when the events of September 11 delayed final implementation. Subsequent to this, the design for the Visitor Information Centre and Forecourt was reconsidered and in 2004 LNSM Joint were recommissioned to complete the ambitious undertaking. Mark Harper was the Project Landscape Architect responsible for design development and documentation of the project until he established his own practice.
Atlantis Design was subsequently engaged by Spackman & Mossop to provide continuity for the project by retaining Mark Harper as an external consultant on the project team.
Services included concept design development and documentation in close collaboration with the consultant team and design support during construction including responding to RFI’s, attending site inspections, consultant co-ordination and client liaison.
