The revitalisation of the Harris Street corridor was identified as a priority project for the City of Sydney. Consultancy services were provided to undertake a thorough design review and analysis of the street.

This included an assessment of existing traffic conditions and potential opportunities for improved pedestrian amenity and traffic calming.

Design concepts were prepared to identify opportunities to improve the amenity of the street, reducing the predominance of vehicle traffic and to reclaim the public domain.

Arising from these investigations, a series of public domain projects located along the corridor were identified for their potential to contribute to the Harris Street revitalisation.

The proposals range from small traffic calming improvements to gateway and village enhancements and improvements of east west corridor links.

Proposed opportunities include modifications to intersections, widening of footpaths, upgrading of pavement surfaces to allow for improved pedestrian access and outdoor seating, green corridor planting, dedicated cycle lanes and the upgrading of pocket parks and plazas.
