Atlantis Design offers a range of services which can include all or part of the following elements. The stages of
work and scope of services for a full design consultancy covers Appraisal through to Contract administration.
This is a short meeting on site to determine the amount of design and consultancy needed to undertake the project.
Upon completion of the site appraisal a fee proposal is prepared for the remaining stages.
This will involve discussions about likely use and function of the garden, likes and dislikes of the owner, restrictions due to soil type, orientation of the garden and climate and preparation of a wish list of plants and features to be included.
We will take a full set of photos and measurements of the garden (in the case of larger projects a full landscape survey will be considered) and based on these prepare a thorough design brief and site analysis which is given to you for comment before proceeding to the next stage.
This may include a scale sketch plan, perspective drawings and in some cases sectional elevations showing how the garden will look and a colour mood board with a range of images of features, finishes and planting as well as some outline ideas about lighting, water features and swimming pool design.
If required, the Concept Design can be lodged for Development Application approval.
In some cases this stage of the process will be quite straightforward but should you wish to put the landscape contract out to competitive tender, this stage becomes crucial.
This document is accompanied by an especially prepared spreadsheet listing all the plants specified detailing habit, appearance and basic care for each plant as well as a photograph.
Once the landscaping is underway, we will undertake regular site visits, sign-off work as it is completed and certify completed work.
The benefit of having us provide this service is that landscaping is a specialised field of construction that requires a range of skills. Garden landscaping has a number of construction challenges which are unlike any potential problems found in the interior of a house. Therefore, it is particularly important that an experienced and knowledgeable landscape contractor is engaged to carry out major external works.
We can help you select your contractor and administer the contract to give you peace of mind and ensure that the project remains within budget and on time.
